The Big One

It started with a cold.

Falling off her rocking horse and smacking her face on the rock fireplace.

Road rash on her face.

Crying.

Screaming.

Hugs.

Diarrhea

Diaper rash.

Reading books.

Playing outside.

Cold medicine.

Bath.

More hugs.

Lots of snot.

All in between the time that the sun came up and the sun set on the horizon.

Is it the first time it's hit me that we cannot protect our children from everything?

Life is so full of surprising life lessons and sometimes we learn the most from just having a tough day.

And the miracle is that her perfect little body will go to work while she is sleeping, doing what a plastic surgeon can never do--heal it without special procedures. Of course there is a chance that a hint of the accident may remain on that beautiful cheek, but nature always shows its amazing talent for healing. Wish I could be there to kiss it all better for her.

Poor baby girl!! I love this Hannah, it's all so true. Poor little face. I hate it when the girls hurt themselves... and my ears ring for several days after!

Ouch! Looks like she got back on the horse though with the skateboard ride. It is hard to realize that you can't protect them from everything! But I don't think we would want to if we knew what they learn when they don't get it right the first time.
