Kindergarten Rockstar
Twinkle Toe shoes, plaid shirt, a pink backback and oversized skinny jeans. You don't get more Kindergarten ready than that! Kayla's first day was great. She came home talking about all the things they did and how excited she was for what was coming up this year. She told me about the reading rug, the alphabet tree, the playground, the kids. The second day she came home with similar enthusiasm but asked an interesting question:
"Mom, am I going to school tomorrow and the next day and EVERY day?"
"Yeah Kayla, every day, isn't that fun?"
"I don't know, it just seems like a lot."
She caught on to that concept quicker than I had hoped. But it does seem like a lot to me too.
She is just growing so fast and seems to become more of an independent thinker every day. I love her new ideas, concerns, thoughts, and ambitions. My biggest hope for my kids is for them to learn empathy. To give thought to the way they treat and accept others and have concern for the way other people feel. It is amazing to me when I watch her include a kid that doesn't have friends or talk to me about how she noticed someone being nice. We are lucky to have this sweet Kindergarten girl.
