I hated the optimism so early in the morning, when my dad would cheerfully sing some song or play his trumpet to wake me up in the morning. Did I even once consider that it's a courtesy to give a wake up call? No. I just continued to loath that time of morning.
Dad taught me to look at life differently. Without money to take big trips, buy amazing toys, or afford the latest fashions; he showed us how to have fun. We found ourselves, many times, at the beach with homemade skimboards. We spent countless hours in the mountains backpacking or day hiking. My Dad even made me feel like I was a big help in adding on to our old house construction. We may not have had much but oh how rich my childhood was. Rich with laughter, friendship, adventures, and memories. Thank you Dad for being my hero forever.
Happy Father's Day.
