Today

It started with a three mile run, during that time, Kayla cut her hair.... again.

My dear husband takes a long time to get ready (I often accuse him of being worse than a woman) but when he finally was, we went to a little 4th of July festival. They had bouncy houses, live music, an auction and food. Kayla danced on the grass in the midst of the crowds. I admired her as she so confidently twirled and leaped. Closing her eyes and smiling. I thought of what that might be like to really not give any thought to what other people think. To dance like no one is watching, in the middle of a crowd.

Before we left, Kayla and her daddy had shaved ice on the lawn. Just because it's the 4th of July weekend.

Later that day, we went to our family 4th of July party. There was food, volleyball, a pinata and some AMAZING fireworks. Kayla was terrified of the fireworks. I was able to revisit my competitive streak as I played a great game of volleyball.

Kayla played with her boy cousins that she just adores. If there is one thing my Kayla needs it's a 5 year old brother. She runs around with them and doesn't miss a beat. They rough house for hours.

In summary, it was a great day.
